About Rebecca & SALT couture
Its been an exciting journey bringing SALT couture to life and now I can bring SALT couture into yours!
For years I’ve donned kaftans on my many many visits to Bali and other island destinations.
I decided I would start sewing some, as I had acquired silks and other fabrics from all over the world.
One evening when sipping cocktails, watching the sun set over the Indian Ocean, I was asked where I had bought my kaftan from, my reply “I made it” with a little chuckle.
This was starting to become a regular occurrence. So I got sewing and started selling to friends.
At 42, I decided to do a fashion design course at Metropolitan Tafe, Bentley WA. I learnt pattern making, identifying fabrics, sewing & designing to name a few of the units. I had the time of my life, being in the prime of my life and going back to study.
From here SALT couture really became a reality.
I took myself off to Bali, Indonesia and literally started pounding the pavements. Gathering information & knowledge, enough to get me going.
I did this a fair few times before I took the plunge and started the manufacturing run. It was an exciting time and one not to look back on.
The rest they say is history!
I’ve sourced all the fabrics personally, to make sure the quality is sound. Ive tried to chose prints that I personally love and would wear.
I’m so proud of my small label, Its been in the making for a few years now and whilst its very young & in a very early nurturing stage, fingers crossed it will grow and bloom in the right direction and who knows maybe venture to places Ive only dreamed about
I’m excited to share this journey with you all.
